Tableau Business Science is a new class of AI-powered analytics that helps domain experts and business users who understand the context of data to train and deploy machine learning models without having to learn advanced programming or statistical techniques. This empowers everyone in the organization to have data as a sub-ordinate and perform self-service AI using clicks in a user interface.

Introduction to Einstein Discovery

Einstein Discovery is part of the Einstein Analytics(aka Tableau CRM) suite of tools in the Salesforce platform that enables users to load the data from various sources and build predictive AI models using machine learning algorithms just by clicking the options in the user interface. The data stories built inside the platform provide bias-free recommendations and narrative explanations on the model outcome and the key features that are driving the prediction results. In addition to that, the tool provides prescriptive and counterfactual results on how to change or improve a certain desired outcome.

The stories generate model metrics and other output parameters that help the user to understand the model performance and accuracy and allow the user to control the threshold values and iterate the model for better accuracy and visualize the performance metrics for different thresholds.

Additionally, the Einstein Analytics(Tableau CRM) platform allows the user to build, automate and monitor the pipeline — workflow and integrate the predictive model into it to create seamless automated business processes.

Integrating Einstein Discovery into Tableau

With Einstein Discovery dashboard extension is now available in Tableau release 2021.3, we can integrate Einstein Discovery model predictions directly into our Tableau Dashboards and into Tableau Prep to get real-time insights on our business data for the Tableau users.

With no-code AI predictions, what-if scenario planning, forecasting, and guided model building options, business users are equipped to build real-world-ready predictive models using the Einstein Discovery Salesforce user interface.

This allows democratizing data science techniques to a larger group of Business people within the organization to analyze and explore the next set of questions and get answers for their business problems.

Some of the business scenarios where Business Science is highly valuable are listed below.

Sales and Marketing — Lead generation scoring and predicting sales close time.

Manufacturers and retailers — Supply chain distribution, optimization, and forecasting demand.

Human Resources — Employee churn prediction or how to attract new hires

Corporate Real-Estate — Explore scenarios of where to move your office space and budgeting.

How to get started with Einstein Discovery

Salesforce provides a learning platform for beginners and intermediates to learn and explore the features at Salesforce Trailhead Einstein Discovery and practice in the sandbox environment.

Conclusion

There is a larger number of organizations that make business decisions that rely mostly on experience and domain knowledge and empowering the business users to move ahead from descriptive analytics to a tool that helps them to explore and build predictive and prescriptive AI model insights using machine learning techniques will help them to make better, faster and confident decisions.
